We can clearly see that the offense of the Texas Rangers is doing pretty well. The team managed to produce a season-low three hits in Monday’s 12-1 loss to the Oakland Athletics, Texas Rebounded with 11 – at least one from every batter – in Tuesday’s 6-3 victory. The Rangers, who lead the major leagues with 309 runs, will try to keep it going when they meet the Athletics on Wednesday in the third of a four-game series.

In their last six games, the Rangers only managed to get two victories but lead the Los Angeles Angels by 4 ½ games in the American League West. They are nine games in front of Oakland and the Seattle Marines.

Texas’ Colby Lewis is 1-4 in his last six starts but will be happy to see the Athletics – he is 7-3 with a 3.23 ERA lifetime against them. Lewis will oppose Oakland’s Bartolo Colon, a 2-0 loser in his last outing. The Athletics have been shut out 11 times this season, including three of Colon’s starts.

Pitching Match Up: Colby Lewis (Rangers RH 4-4, 3.50 ERA) VS Bartolo Colon (Athletics RH 4-6, 5.34 ERA)
Lewis was not able to get any sort of help by his defense in his last two losses as seven of the 11 runs have been unearned. He was sharp three starts back when he allowed one run, four hits and struck out six in eight innings in a 6-1 victory at Houston on May 20. Lewis is 2-3 with a 4.04 ERA in six road starts. Oakland’s roster is batting 203 against him, although Jemile Weeks is 7-for-12 with a homer, triple, double and two RBIs.

Colon on the other hand did pretty well to win Friday at Kansas City when he allowed two runs in seven innings. He has struggled at home at 1-4 with a 7.48 ERA and .322 batting average against. Colon is 17-6 lifetime against Texas, but 0-1 with a no-decision since 2008. The Rangers’ roster is hitting .312 against him with Adrian Beltre (17-for-51, four homers, six doubles, 13 RBIs) doing the most damage.

Aside from baseball betting odds, there is something to take note of:
• The Rangers’ Joe Nathan has recorded 10 straight saves and 12 in 13 chances this season.
