On Monday, Kevin Youkilis played third base and managed to bat second for the Chicago White Sox. He managed to go 1-for-4 in his first game since being acquired from the Boston Red Sox. With his first hit out of the way, Youkilis will look for his first victory with Chicago on Tuesday when heading against the Minnesota Twins. The White Sox lost 4-1 in the series opener, but they’re still a half-game ahead Cleveland in the American League Central. Chicago, Which has scored one or less runs in five of its last eight games, moved second baseman Gordon Beckham to the No. 9 spot in the lineup upon Youkilis’ arrival.

Matt Capps has been placed by the Twins on the 15-day disabled list Monday with right shoulder inflammation, and he’s not expected to begin a rehab assignment until the All-Star break. Jared Burton has recorded saves in each of the past two games, and he’ll share the closer’s role with Glen Perkins while Capps is out. Minnesota, which has won three of its last four games, improved to 12-10 in June with Monday’s win.

After going 0-2 with a 8.4 ERA over his previous three starts, Floyd tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings last Wednesday against the Cubs for his first win since May 27. On May 22, it was a struggle in a start against Minnesota, surrendering nine runs over 3 2/3 innings.
